The ratings recovered well, Thursday and came back to near normality, the highlight being the blog selection Roaring Forte which was also top rated both on form and time.
On Friday, Swingkeel (4-40 York) is another blog selection on a recovery mission after a defeat. A lot of pundits claim that he would have been much closer last time when 3rd at Goodwood had he begun his run earlier. I'm not so sure. He was staying on last time, but much more slowly than he had in the past. My opinion (for what it's worth) is that Swingkeel ran a great race at a distance just that little bit too far. It is a credit to his courage that he slowly bridged the gap when he had very little left to give. Friday's two mile trip is his optimum and he can show more of his true grit to gain the day here.

note: Unless there are overnight withdrawals there is always one clear top rated horse (in both services). There are never more than three horses (in either service) in the top two in any race where there are joint 2nd tops (one top rated two joint 2nd top). There are never more than four horses in the top three (in either service) in any race where there are either joint 2nd or joint third tops.
If a horse isn't in the top three rated of the handicaps or the speed ratings, then it is highly likely it won't win.
