A good start to the week with both sets of ratings matching themselves but the Speed Ratings just edging it with two good 2nd top rated wins at 22/1 (Mouseen) and 20/1 (Odddsmaker). The (4) and (5) graded races put up an average performance.

Looking at Monday's cards makes me wonder what is the point of Kempton? Answers please.....

Elsewhere it is typical Monday fare with a lot of inconsistent horses, some wide open maidens and a couple of (supposedly) good things at short prices. Serious Impact (4-30 Windsor) and Laughing Boy (5-00 Windsor) are two such but both come with risks. Serious Impact hasn't run since May and Emperor Court could be given a soft lead he won't give up. And Laughing Boy isn't bombproof from an improver or the debutante, Zemario. Having said that, I expect them both to win -- but be wary of any market moves against either.

Another you would expect would be Pure Nostalgia (2-20 Hamilton) if the meeting goes ahead after an early morning inspection. Claimers aren't usually races to be bullish about, but Pure Nostalgia looks the only horse least likely to regress below his current ability. So he goes off as my best bet of the day.

The Handicap Ratings and Speed Ratings combined top three strike rate for Sunday was 76% .

There were four from six successful (4) and (5) UK graded races, Sunday, giving a winning top two strike rate of 67%.

The full top three summary for Sunday:

The clear top rated winning strike rate of the (4) and (5) graded races Sunday was 33%.

HANDICAPS
Clear top rated strike rate was 38%. Best top rated SP was 9/2
Top two strike rate (incl joints) was 62%. Best 2nd top SP was 8/1
Top three strike rate was 62%. Best 3rd top SP was NO WINS

SPEED RATINGS
Clear top rated strike rate was 38%. Best top rated SP was 8/1
Top two strike rate (incl joints) was 62%. Best 2nd top SP was 22/1
Top three strike rate was 67%. Best 3rd top SP was 1/4 (odds on)
note: Unless there are overnight withdrawals there is always one clear top rated horse (in both services). There are never more than three horses (in either service) in the top two in any race where there are joint 2nd tops (one top rated two joint 2nd top). There are never more than four horses in the top three (in either service) in any race where there are either joint 2nd or joint third tops.

If a horse isn't in the top three rated of the handicaps or the speed ratings, then it is highly likely it won't win.
