The full top three summary for Friday:
HANDICAPS

Top two strike rate (incl joints) was 55%. Best 2nd top SP was 11/1

note: Unless there are overnight withdrawals there is always one clear top rated horse (in both services). There are never more than three horses (in either service) in the top two in any race where there are joint 2nd tops (one top rated two joint 2nd top). There are never more than four horses in the top three (in either service) in any race where there are either joint 2nd or joint third tops.
If a horse isn't in the top three rated of the handicaps or the speed ratings, then it is highly likely it won't win.

Our poor July blog selection record ended on the last day of the month with two winners. Hopefully, August will provide better results.
According to the Met Office, Goodwood can expect a night long of light rain. If that comes to pass, then the dead ground (as decribed by Jimmy Fortune) will not get any faster. Just as Biniou (3-40 Stewards Cup) will like it. He was a Listed winning, Group placed horse for most of his career in France and has taken a couple of years to recapture some of that form during his time in this country. But he has done so with a vengeance this summer. He has recaptured his French form and looks very handily weighted with just a 3lbs penalty for his last to first win at Newmarket a fortnight ago. The race will definitely be run to suit and he should be making his ground rapidly in the closing stages.
The bonus is that Goodwood specialist Richard Hughes takes over from Jamie Spencer. Since he is still 25/1 with Victor Chandler and Ladbrokes overnight, he surely merits an each way interest.
La Capriosa (2-05 Doncaster) did us a favour last Sunday by stopping just quickly enough to let the blog selection, Hotham, pip her on the line. Saturday's race is not nearly so competitive and she should gain deserved compensation. Robert Winston who rides her so well (and no, I'm not going to rephrase that...) retains the ride.
The most interesting horse of the day is Sir Michael Stoute's Zacinto (2-30 Goodwood). He looked a potential top tier horse in his two runs last season and, providing he has overcome his training problems, he should prove too good for a field made up essentially of third tier horses.
Have a good Saturday
