I would prefer if readers of the blog would post comments here for everyone to check out. That way a good discussion can take place. But in response to emails I will now summarise the top, top two and top three strike rates for both the Handicaps and the Speed Ratings both individually AND combined to give a more comprehensive overview of strike rates. I'll continue the current summary format for the combined but list the individual service strike rates.
The Handicap Ratings and Speed Ratings combined top three strike rate for Tuesday was 78%, following Monday's lowish 63% and Sunday's 75%, an in running weekly average of 72%.
There were nine (4) and (5) UK graded races, Tuesday producing an 89% top two winning strike rate. Five were won by the clear top rated horse and three were won by the joint 2nd top rated. Just one race was unsuccessful.
The full top three summary for Tuesday is:
HANDICAPS
Clear top rated strike rate was 33%
Top two strike rate (incl joints) was 63%
Top three strike rate was 78%
SPEED RATINGS
Clear top rated strike rate was 37%
Top two strike rate (incl joints) was 55%
Top three strike rate was 70%
note: Unless there are overnight withdrawals there is always one clear top rated horse. There are never more than three horses in the top two in any race where there are joint 2nd tops (one top rated two joint 2nd top). There are never more than four horses in the top three in any race where there are either joint 2nd or joint third tops.
If a horse isn't in the top three rated of the handicaps or the speed ratings, then it is highly likely it won't win.
You can see an explanation of the Handicap Ratings HERE and an explanation of the Speed Ratings HERE. The Speed Ratings are an addition to the handicaps at no extra cost and you can subscribe HERE. There has never been a better time to join us.
The ratings are doing well, I am doing well when betting on raceday. But the past couple of weeks my overnight blog selections have been less than helpful. But I am hopeful, Wednesday.
Trafalgar Man (3-50 Perth) has found a good groove of form since being paired with Tom Messenger. He has improved every run and though he's now been raised 13lbs since the first of his two recent wins, he is only one pound higher than his only other win at Cartmel two summers ago. He lost his way after that but seems to have recaptured all his enthusiasm for the game.
July and August are the best months to catch Rydane (4-00 Catterick). It is by far his most consistent few weeks of the year. He has won three times at Catterick (all in July and August) and looks to be in the right mood to make it four course wins. The trip is probably his most ideal as he has always struck me as wanting a fast 6f rather than a stiff 5f. If there is any money for him, my confidence will rise accordingly.
Have a good day.
